FANTASY BASHO RULES

 

• Each Fantasy Sumo league is contested by eight teams.

• Each team will select four rikishi for the duration of each basho.

• The team with the highest total score at the end of each basho will be the winner.

  • A team’s score is the total of each individual rikishi.

    • A rikishi gets two points for each win.

    • A rikishi gets one point for each special prize.

    • A rikishi gets one point for a kinboshi (beating a Yokozuna)

• In case of injury and a rikishi going kyujo for the remainder of a tournament, the team will be able to select a replacement from rikishi not on any other team, whose wins from that point forward will count to the team’s total.

• Before each basho, each team will be selected through a serpentine draft.

  • The draft order will be the reverse of the final standings from the previous basho.

  • The first place team will be able to keep three of the four rikishi on the team from the previous basho.

  • The second place team will be able to keep two of the four rikishi on the team from the previous basho.

  • Every other team will be able to keep one of the four rikishi on the team from the previous basho.

  • Any team that does not keep any rikishi will select before any teams that have kept rikishi on the team.
